Bucknuts Golf Outing

A couple of weeks ago, we announced plans to host the first-ever Bucknuts Golf Outing. It is set for Friday, Sept. 26, at Tartan East Golf Club near New Albany, Ohio.
We are pleased to announce that we have added a sponsor for the outing that will also host a post-outing event. That is the Red Rock Pub located on East Broad Street in Blacklick -- about 10 minutes from Tartan East.
We are also excited to say we have a nice collection of former OSU athletes and celebrities lined up to join us for the outing. That group includes Dee Miller, Michael Wiley, Maurice Hall, Branden Joe, Marcus Green, Jimmie Bell, James Cotton, former Bowling Green quarterback Josh Harris, Bill Kurelic, Bill Conley and others.
We are hosting this outing as a way for Bucknuts readers and Ohio State fans to get together. The outing will be one day before OSU’s Big Ten opener against Minnesota.
This outing will help us benefit a great cause all proceeds will be donated to the Capital Foundation, which is dedicated to the fight against pediatric diseases. This past year, the Capital Foundation donated money to Nationwide Children’s Hospital as well as to Kids ‘n Kamp. Kids 'n Kamp is a charity designed to support families with children diagnosed with cancer.
This event is being co-sponsored by Tartan East Golf Club (see link below).
We still have room for golfers to sign up and play and we definitely need corporations or individuals to purchase hole sponsorships.
As for the golf, we are planning a four-man scramble. It will be a shotgun start beginning at 12:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. (Registration will begin at 11 a.m.)
Hopefully, we can wrap up by 6:30-7 p.m. so those who want to attend high school football games in the area can do that. As noted, for those who want to continue socializing, we will head to the Red Rock Pub after the dinner.
Those wishing to play may sign up as single players and they will be paired with others to form four-man teams. Or you may sign up in units of two, three or four players.
The cost is $75 per person for Bucknuts subscribers and $80 for nonsubscribers.
We are working on the format, but it is possible we could put the teams in flights following the outing and pay out prizes to the winners in each flight. We also hope to have individual prizes for long drive and proximity award winners.
Included with this outing is the 18-hole round of golf with cart, an Augusta Buffet dinner (hamburgers, brats, three sides) afterwards, a copy of the October edition of Bucknuts The Magazine and two drink tickets. (After two drinks, those attending the outing will be on their own to purchase their own refreshments.)
Those wishing to purchase Bucknuts T-shirts should add $15 to the cost per player. You must specify size -- large, extra large or double extra large for each shirt purchased.
We are hoping to have a possible silent and live auction of OSU memorabilia. We also hope to have Bucknuts T-shirts and Bucknuts books available for sale. Look for announcements on that in the future.

Orders will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. With each registration, we need the name, address, phone number and e-mail of the team captain and the names of any other players in that group registering.

AGAIN: The e-mail is just so we know a check and full registration are coming in the mail to the P.O. Box number above. It is not considered a space reservation.
Space will be extremely tight. We will be limited to roughly 25 foursomes in order to complete the outing in five hours. You will be notified by e-mail that you are either in the field or not.
We also will need corporate or individual sponsorships for the holes. We will provide a sign for the hole sponsorship and the sponsors will be listed in the outing literature.
We have two options for tax deductible hole sponsorships.
We are offering simple hole sponsorships for $150 apiece.
But, as an added bonus, those making hole sponsorships can also register a player for the outing for a total of $200. In terms of the tax deduction, only the amount above the purchase of the golf (roughly $140) will be deductible.
(To make it simple: If a company or individual wants to purchase a hole sponsorship and bring a four-man team, the total would be $440 -- $200 for the sponsorship and one player, $240 for the other three players. Deduct $5 for each Bucknuts.com subscriber.)

We will be able to contact potential hole sponsors to take those donations via credit card if desired. (We will not take any credit card orders for golf registrations, however.)

As stressed, this is a first-come, first-served event. The receipt of checks and fully completed registrations at the P.O. Box will prevail. All parties who submit registrations will be contacted via e-mail with more information as the outing nears.
