Led by a talented stable of junior running backs, including Braylon Heard, Ray Vinopal and Karrington Griffin, Mooney scored early and often in beating Covington (Ky.) Catholic 57-0 in the Kirk Herbstreit Varsity Football Series. Johnny Simon, who moved to tight end on offense, helped anchor the defensive shutout at his usual tackle position.
