The Bucks have 25 commitments, but there is still plenty to talk about in regards to OSU and the rest of the Big Ten.  Today we do just that with the second edition of our new column, "Buckeye Bits And Big Ten Tidbits."  We start at the Woody Hayes Facility, then move around the conference.  Among our tidbits is information on which school is still trying to recruit Corey Brown?

One of the Buckeye coaches is supposed to attend one of Minneapolis (Minn.) Washburn tight end Ra'Shede Hageman's games in the next month or so.  Wisconsin coach Bob Bostad attended Hageman's game last Friday night.  Hageman has official visits set to Wisconsin Oct. 4 when the Badgers play the Buckeyes, Ohio State Oct. 11 when the Bucks play Purdue, and Minnesota Nov. 8 when the Gophers play Michigan.  When Minnesota rescheduled Hageman's official visit from Sept. 20 to Nov. 8, it meant the Buckeyes will no longer get the last shot.

Buckeye commitment Corey Brown told Bucknuts.com that Michigan is still calling some and wants him to attend one of their home games.  Brown said he has no plans to do so at this time.

Though Buckeye commitment Jack Mewhort played offensive tackle for Toledo St. John's this past weekend, he is still considered a guard or center by the Ohio State staff.  Mewhort played center for St. John's as a sophomore and junior, but moved to left tackle on Friday night.

A name to keep in mind is Cheatham Norrils.  Norrils is a sophomore at Toledo St. John's.  He had been playing cornerback and some wide receiver before moving to quarterback this past weekend.  Norrils played very well in St. John's 41-6 victory over Toledo Rogers.  He was offered a scholarship by Toledo when he was a freshman.

Buckeye commitment Jordan Hall and Jeannette offensive coordinator Roy Hall attended the Ohio State-Troy game on Saturday.  Roy Hall was very happy with the performance of his former Jayhawk quarterback Terrelle Pryor in the Buckeye victory.  Jordan and Roy stayed in Columbus until Sunday and had dinner with Pryor at Eddie George's "Grill 27" on Saturday night.

The weekend of Oct. 11 when the Buckeyes play Purdue, star Memphis (Tenn.) Harding wide receiver Marlon Brown is scheduled to make an official visit to OSU.  Brown has a game on Friday, Oct. 10, so he will not leave for Ohio State until Saturday morning.  But Brown won't cut the trip short.  He plans to stay on the visit until Monday.

On Friday Buckeye commitment C.J. Barnett and his Clayton Northmont (4-1) teammates take on undefeated (5-0) Huber Heights Wayne.  Barnett will go against super sophomore quarterback Braxton Miller

Quarterback Devin Gardner from Inkster, Mich., one of the Midwest's top junior prospects, continues to see his scholarship offer list grow.  The 6-foot-4 and 205-pound Garner now has offers from Michigan State, Michigan, Iowa, Nebraska, Cincinnati, Bowling Green, Toledo and a couple others.  Gardner attended the NIKE Training Camp at Ohio State in May and was impressed with OSU.  His favorite school as a kid was Ohio State.

Buckeye commitment Reid Fragel moved from tackle back to his usual tight end position this past Friday.  Fragel continues to play with a cast on his left hand as his broken thumb heals.  He had the first cast removed a little over a week ago and will have this cast taken off on Sept. 30.  Providing everything is OK, which is expected, Fragel will be done with casts.

Michigan State defeated Notre Dame 23-7 Saturday and the Spartans did it before a pretty good group of recruits.  Among the seniors in attendance were defensive lineman William Campbell and quarterback/athlete Thomas Gordon from Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech, as well as tight end Dion Sims from Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's.  Juniors in attendance included defensive end William Gholston and defensive tackle Jonathan Hankins from Detroit Southeastern.  Of those five prospects, all but Hankins has been offered a scholarship by the Spartans.

This weekend it is Michigan that is set to host an excellent group of recruits as the Wolverines host Wisconsin.  Among the prospects Rich Rodriguez expects to be in Ann Arbor are Campbell and Gordon as well two other Cass Tech stars, Michigan running back commitment Teric Jones and junior defensive back Dior Mathis.  The Wolverines will also host several prospects on official visits including Tavon Austin from Baltimore (Md.) Dunbar.  Austin lists Michigan, Penn State, Illinois and West Virginia among the schools he is considering, and those schools as well as many others have offered a scholarship.

Among the players expected to attend the Buckeyes' game against Minnesota on Saturday are Cleveland Glenville stars Jonathan Newsome, Marcus Hall, Terrance Owens and Travis Freeman, Plain City Jonathan Alder defensive tackle Josh Davis, and Buckeye commitments Jamie Wood, Zach Boren, C.J. Barnett and Adam Bellamy.

Glenville defensive back Michael Edwards is not sure which game he will attend this weekend, the Minnesota at Ohio State game or the Wisconsin at Michigan game.

There has been message board speculation that the Buckeyes might be in the running for William Campbell.  Campbell, the No. 1 prospect in the state of Michigan, originally committed to Michigan, then de-committed.  He is planning official visits to USC, LSU, Michigan and Miami.  Campbell told Bucknuts.com that he will take all five official visits, but has no idea who he will select for his fifth trip.  When asked if he has heard from Ohio State since he de-committed from Michigan, Campbell said, "Not at all."

Illinois travels to Penn State this weekend for a key Big Ten game.  The Nittany Lions are expecting a good group of recruits to attend the game including a super junior, linebacker/safety/running back Mike Hull from Canonsburg (Pa.) Canon-McMillan.  The 6-foot-1 and 212-pound Hull already has scholarship offers from Penn State, Pitt, Michigan and West Virginia.  Hull's father Tom Hull played linebacker for Penn State as well as in the NFL for the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers.  Mike Hull's junior teammate, running back/safety Chad Hagan will also attend the Illinois at Penn State game.  Hagan was a varsity starter his freshman year on the Canon-McMillan football and basketball teams.  He decided to concentrate on basketball and did not play football as a sophomore.  However Hagan is back out on the football field this year, starting at both running back and free safety.  He too is a Big Ten type prospect.

Mike Hull is planning to see games at some other schools in the next couple months including Ohio State, Pitt and West Virginia.  Hull plans to attend the Penn State at Ohio State game and Chad Hagan might also be in Columbus that weekend.

Buckeye offensive line commitment Sam Longo is up to 280 pounds from 260 last season, and says he feels faster even with the added weight.  Longo's best 40-yard dash time going into the summer was 4.8 seconds.

Longo is going to be a bad @ss for us
Also, scum needs to quit contacting our recruits. Dirtbags
Couldn't agree more. Classless, just like their coach. If our recruits say they are "still open" then fine, contact them all you want. But to initiate contact is just pathetic. RR really is lacking class. I can not imagine why anyone would want to play for him.
again Bill fantastic piece... quickly turning into one of my favorites... keep up the good work
Thanks, I appreciate that and glad you like it!
how is storm doing bill?
DickRod has no choice but contact committed recruits. His current committments are good, but not good enough. He has done the impossible, though. He's made me hate MeatChicken even more.
Longo has made himself into a Beast - Love getting these type of reports. Great job Bill. I read Storm had a monster game last week. Was it true the JT went to see Braxton Miller play last week ? Nice update on W Campbell-I also heard we might jump in the mix but it appears we staying away for one reason or another.
Why hasnt Ohio State contacted Will Campell when we need DT more than any other position in this class? I just dont understand that part! Also DickRod needs to stop contacting our players, thats classless and dis-respectful lol.
great article. Its nice to see what the other big ten schools are up to. Keep them coming bill!
It's admittedly wishful thinking on my part, but maybe we're not contacting Campbell because Corey Adams is coming here?
I heard that Storm Klein will definitely be in the runnig for Mr. Football
