Louisville (Ky.) Male defeated Fairdale, Ky., 24-13 on Friday night. Buckeye commitment Justin Green had a big game. Green played running back, wide receiver, linebacker and safety. He had 145 yards rushing, 32 yards receiving, four tackles and a sack.

Grosse Pointe (Mich.) South started the weekend and their season off on the right foot with an 18-0 victory over Harrison Township (Mich.) L'Anse Creuse on Thursday night. Buckeye commitment Reid Fragel is recovering from a broken left thumb sustained at the beginning of South's practices, so he moved from tight end to offensive right tackle. Fragel also played defensive end. He did not allow a sack and made eight tackles including one for loss. Fragel will return to tight end around mid-season.

Grand Ledge, Mich., defeated Grandville, Mich., 31-28 on a 28-yard field goal with six seconds left in the game. Buckeye commitment James Jackson played both ways at wide receiver and cornerback. He caught seven passes for 106 yards and a touchdown. Jackson also broke up a pass on the other side of the ball.

Pickerington Central scored a touchdown in each of the first three quarters and defeated Springfield 21-0 on Friday night. Jamie Wood played the entire game at wide receiver and safety. He had a couple catches as well as a 30-yard punt return. Zach Boren played the entire game at linebacker and fullback. He had a particularly good game on the defensive side of the ball.

Monroeville (Pa.) Gateway defeated Pittsburgh (Pa.) Penn Hills 45-17 on Friday night. Dorian Bell played outside linebacker, fullback and a little slot receiver. He was in double digits with tackles. Corey Brown played safety and wide receiver. He had an interception and a touchdown reception.

Defensive end Melvin Fellows led the way as Garfield Heights defeated Parma 32-10 on Friday night. Fellows played the entire game at defensive end and tight end. He registered two sacks in an outstanding performance.

After an opening week victory, Clayton Northmont tasted defeat for the first time as Cleveland St. Ignatius came out on top 23-3. Buckeye commitment C.J. Barnett had a good game making six tackles and deflecting a pass.

Dublin Scioto went down to defeat for the first time as the Irish fell to Toledo Central Catholic 21-14 on Friday night. Buckeye commitment Bradley McDougald played running back, quarterback, wide receiver and safety. He threw a touchdown pass, had a run of over 50 yards, made six solo tackles and recovered a fumble.

Coldwater is now 2-0 after a 41-7 victory over Kokomo, Ind., on Friday night. Buckeye commitment Adam Homan played the first three quarters at both linebacker and fullback. He made at least 10 tackles.

Jack Mewhort and his Toledo St. John's teammates raced to an early 10-0 lead, but could not hold off Columbus DeSales as the Stallions prevailed 31-17. Mewhort went into the game with a sprained MCL in his left knee and re-aggravated the injury at the end of the first half. Mewhort did not return to action, but is hoping to play this weekend. He plans to play with the injury the rest of the season and surgery could be an option after the season.

Youngstown Cardinal Mooney routed Covington (Ky.) Catholic 57-0 on Saturday to even their record at 1-1. Buckeye commitment John Simon played defensive tackle again, but moved to tight end on offense. He had another very good game on both sides of the ball.

Bellbrook fell to 1-1 on the season as Kettering Alter won handily, 49-14. Buckeye offensive line commitment Sam Longo remained out of action as he recovers from a stress fracture in his left foot.

Offensive lineman Corey Linsely led the charge again as Youngstown Boardman defeated Toledo Start 56-17. Linsley and most of the other Boardman starters played the first half and the first series of the second half before turning things over to the subs.

After an opening week loss Licking Valley evened their record with a 35-13 victory over Zanesville. Storm Klein played well on both sides of the ball, as usual playing middle linebacker and running back.

Painesville Harvey evened their record at 1-1 with a 33-15 victory over Wickliffe on Friday night. Buckeye commitment Chris Fields had a very good game catching six passes for 103 yards and a touchdown. Fields had a touchdown and had another called back due to a penalty.

Adam Bellamy and his Aurora teammates routed Mantua Crestwood 40-14. Bellamy played defensive end and offensive tackle. Except for a few breaks on the defensive side of the ball, Bellamy played the first three quarters before subs played most of the last quarter.

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St Thomas Aquinas defeated Cincinnati Elder 35-24 on Saturday in the Herbstreit Classic. Buckeye commitment Duron Carter had a big game. The star wide receiver caught four passes for 130 yards and a touchdown. One of the receptions was a spectacular grab.

Jeannette, Pa., routed East Allegheny, Pa., 43-0 on Friday night. Running back Jordan Hall carried the ball five times for 138 yards, averaging a specatcular 27.6 yards per carry.
