Clayton (Ohio) Northmont defensive back and Buckeye commitment C.J. Barnett was officially added to the roster for the 2009 Under Armour All-American Game Jan. 4 in Orlando, Fla.  Barnett tells Bucknuts.com he is very excited about the opportunity and looking forward to joining a number of other OSU commitments in the game.

Clayton (Ohio) Northmont defensive back and Buckeye commitment C.J. Barnett will play in the 2009 Under Armour All-American game on Jan. 4 in Orlando, Fla.

"I can't wait," Barnett said.  "There are some really good guys going to the game.  I can't wait to play with them."

The 6-foot-1 and 175-pound Barnett is the No. 1 cornerback prospect in the Buckeye State.  Opponents rarely challenged him during his senior season, preferring to test the other side of the field when they went to the air.  Barnett intercepted one pass as Northmont finished the regular season with a 10-2 record.

On Monday Barnett was invited to play in the Under Armour game after Lake Charles (La.) Barbe and LSU commitment Janzen Jackson was knocked out of the game with torn miniscus which required surgery.  However Barnett is far from a late replacement.  He is the No. 73 prospect on the ESPNU 150 and the No. 5 cornerback prospect.

Barnett intercepted three passes his sophomore season and three more his junior year for a total of seven for his high school career.

When Barnett arrives in Florida he will see some familiar faces.  Barnett is one of five Buckeye commitments who will play in the Under Armour All-American game.

Running back Jaamal Berry from Miami (Fla.) Palmetto, wide receiver Duron Carter from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas, offensive lineman Jack Mewhort from Toledo (Ohio) St. John's and defensive end Melvin Fellows from Garfield Heights, Ohio, will join Barnett in the contest.

Barnett also said he has met Memphis (Tenn.) Harding wide receiver Marlon Brown and Indian Head (Md.) Lackey cornerback Darrell Givens who are both playing in the game.

"It will be sweet to go down there with the best players in the country," Barnett said.  "It should be a great experience."

Barnett said his immediate family will head to Orlando with him.

He's not a late replacement, but he doesn't get the call until another player gets injured? Whatever ESPiN.
Hope he goes down there and has a "lights out" performance.
Invitations are all the same once play starts - C.J will make the most of it and represent himself well. Wish you the best - good luck.
I don't understand why he is rated as the 4th or 5th cornerback in the country and neither the Army All American Bowl or Under Armour had him on the roster before now. That is shocking to say the least.
That makes about 10 players in both games and also Hall, Brown, and Adams. Going to be a great class. In the AA game we have Bell, Brown, Simon, Wood, and Green I believe.
