All 25 of the Buckeyes' class of 2009 commitments were in action over the weekend as was their one 2010 commitment.  There were some outstanding performances including big nights from running backs Carlos Hyde and Jordan Hall.  Bucknuts.com has all the details on all of the Bucks' commitments.   

 

Naples, Fla., improved to 4-1 with a 23-20 double overtime victory over Gulf Coast on Friday.  Running back Carlos Hyde had a big night.  He scored on runs of 46, 57 and 2 yards.  Hyde finished with 179 yards on 19 carries in leading his team to the win.

Jeannette, Pa., defeated Washington (Pa.) McGuffey 27-13 as the Jayhawks ran their record to 6-0.  Jeannette trailed 13-6 at the half and had negative five yards.  The second half was a different story.  Jordan Hall  carried the ball eight times for 171 yards and a touchdown, leading the Jayhawks to victory.  On the other side of the ball Hall had a solid game at linebacker.

Licking Valley defeated Granville  48-28 on Friday night.  Storm Klein played linebacker and running back.  He had another huge night on the offensive side of the ball with 249 yards rushing and four touchdowns.  Tha Panthers are now 6-1 on the season.

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas defeated Hollywood Hills 35-7 on Thursday.  With their starting quarterback out with a sprained ankle, Aquinas stayed mainly on the ground and Buckeye commitment Duron Carter caught just one pass for three yards.  Aquinas is 4-0 on the season.

Grand Ledge, Mich., won in overtime for the second weekend in a row.  This week Grand Ledge defeated East Lansing, Mich., 36-35.  Buckeye commitment James Jackson caught four passes.  Grand Ledge is now 6-0.

Youngstown Boardman lost for the second week in a row, this time going down to defeat at the hands of Massillon Jackson 20-16 on Friday night.  The Spartans are now 5-2.  Corey Linsley played tackle on both sides of the ball.  He had three sacks and two other tackles for loss. Buckeye 2010 commitment J.T. Moore played both defensive end and offensive tackle.  Moore made five tackles.

Coldwater moved to 7-0 with a 34-7 victory over St. Henry on Friday.  Adam Homan played both linebacker and fullback.  He made seven tackles including a sack on defense.  On offense Homan was used exclusively as a blocker.

Bellbrook went down to defeat for the third straight week, this time 36-28 to Eaton.  Bellbrook is now 4-3 on the season.  Buckeye offensive line commitment Sam Longo was outstanding at tackle on both sides of the ball.  He had double digit 'pancake' blocks, made eight tackles, had a sack and two quarterback 'hurries.'

Toledo St. John's defeated Toledo Whitmer 28-17 to improve to 4-3.  Buckeye commitment Jack Mewhort played very well, having arguably his best game of the season.  He led the charge as one of his teammates rushed for 176 yards on just nine carries.

Youngstown Cardinal Mooney won for the sixth weekend in a row, this time defeating Cleveland Benedictine 31-14.  John Simon played defensive tackle and end as well as tight end.  Simon had two sacks for the second week in a row.  Cardinal Mooney is now 6-1.

Up Next:  Vs. Akron St. Vincent St. Mary at Youngstown State on Saturday night. 

Miami (Fla.) Palmetto defeated Miami South 24-0 on Friday to improve to 3-1 on the season.  Buckeye commitment Jaamal Berry, playing with a cast on for the first time (had surgery for a broken bone in his left wrist), rushed for 78 yards on 16 carries.  He scored on a 55-yard screen pass and had a 34-yard run for a touchdown called back..

Adam Bellamy and his Aurora teammates defeated West Geauga 27-7 on Friday to improve to 5-2 on the season.  Bellamy played defensive end, defensive tackle and offensive tackle.  He made seven tackles including two sacks.

Clayton Northmont defeatd Springfield 46-6 on Friday night to improve to 6-1 on the season.  Buckeye commitment C.J. Barnett, playing cornerback and a few plays at safety, made three tackles.  Springfield did not throw a pass in Barnett's direction.

Dublin Scioto routed Westerville Central 43-7 on Friday.  Bradley McDougald returned to action for the first time in a month.  McDougald ran for 112 yards on just 10 carries and scored twice.  He also returned a punt 53 yards for a touchdown.  The Irish improved to 3-4.

Pickerington Central made it seven straight wins with a 49-21 victory over Groveport on Friday. Zach Boren made 18 tackles and had 25 yards rushing and a touchdown.  Jamie Wood made five tackles and caught touchdown passes of 47 and 8-yards.

Up Next:  At Newark on Friday 

The Cleveland Glenville Tarblooders continued their winning ways, defeating Cleveland John Marshall 30-6 on Friday.  Buckeye commitment Jonathan Newsome made 8 tackles including a sack for a safety.  Glenville is now 7-0.

Up Next:  Vs. Cleveland Collinwood at Rhodes High School on Thursday afternoon.

Frederick (Md.) Tuscarora defeated Frederick (Md.) Thomas Johnson on Friday, 49-35.  Buckeye commitment Dominic Clarke made three tackles and forced a fumble.  He also scored three times including a 27-yard run from scrimmage and an 85-yard kickoff return.

Louisville (Ky.) Male lost to Louisville Ballard 30-14 on Friday.  Buckeye commitment Justin Green injured his right knee on the first series of the game.  He continued to play, but was not his usual self.  After the game an MRI showed Green has a slight tear of the MCL.  He will be about three to four weeks, but no surgery is anticipated at this point.  Male is now 3-2.   

Up Next:  Home vs. Louisville Southern on Friday 

Louisville (Ky.) Trinity went down to defeat for the first time this season, losing to Louisville St. Xavier 30-6 in a battle of undefeated teams. Linebacker Jordan Whiting made seven tackles.  Trinity is now 4-1.

Monroeville (Pa.) Gateway ran its record to 6-0 with a 42-0 victory over Hempfield, Pa. on Friday night.  Dorian Bell was in double digits with tackles. Corey Brown played safety and wide receiver.  He made four tackles, had a pass break-up and caught a pass.

Painesville Harvey defeated Conneaut 39-21 on Friday.  Buckeye commitment Chris Fields caught six passes for 109 yards and three touchdowns.  Harvey has three wins against four losses.

Grosse Pointe (Mich.) South defeated Port Huron (Mich.) Northern 21-13.  Buckeye commitment Reid Fragel caught one pass for 15 yards.  He also made nine tackles including a sack.  South has three wins against three losses.

Up Next:  Home vs. Fraser, Mich., on Friday

Garfield Heights lost for the third weekend in a row to drop to 4-3.  This past weekend was a particularly tough loss for defensive end Melvin Fellows and his teammates.  Heights lost 20-17 in overtime to Cuyahoga Falls.

Some impressive performances. Boren might actually be able to play MLB here with stats like that and as big as he is. Mcdougald had a nice coming back game, and Clarke is just a pure football player.
What divison is Storm Klein in? IS the defenses hes going up against weak or should he be a RB instead of LB. He seams to keep putting up some really good games rushing the ball. Go Buckeyes!
i think he's d 4 not for sure though maybe 3
He is D3, and some of the Defenses aren't that good. Especially Granville's defense. He is definitely a future linebacker.
