Adams Suspended, Mobley Transferring?

According to a Bucknuts.com source, Ohio State sophomore offensive lineman Mike Adams has been suspended two games for a repeat violation of a team rule.

This explains Adams’ sudden plummet to the third-team offense after it was believed he was the favorite to win the starting left tackle position at the outset of camp.

As it stands, junior Andy Miller – a converted tight end – will be the Buckeyes’ starting left tackle for the season opener against Navy on Sept. 5. Sophomore J.B. Shugarts is also in the mix for the starting LT spot and will at least play in a reserve role (he has been rotating in with the first-team offense in practice).

Mobley gone?

Redshirt freshman defensive lineman Willie Mobley has apparently decided to transfer to UCLA, per Mobley’s Facebook page.

Mobley’s family recently moved from Minnesota to Los Angeles and that could be one factor in his decision. Also, the “tweener” DE/DT wasn’t expected to get much playing time this season for OSU after sitting out last year with a shoulder injury. He was getting reps with the third-team defense during camp.

Mobley (6-3, 265) will lose a year of eligibility this season, but will be able to play for the Bruins (if that’s where he ends up) as a third-year sophomore in 2010.
