DeAnthony Arnett, the No. 2 overall prospect in the state of Michigan, was in the Horseshoe as the Buckeyes defeated Iowa and clinched a birth in the Rose Bowl. Arnett liked what he saw and plans to soon make another visit to Ohio State. When he does Arnett will bring with him an impressive list of scholarship offers.

DeAnthony Arnett (Saginaw, Mich./Saginaw) is one of the country’s top junior wide receiver prospects and the No. 2 overall prospect in the state of Michigan.

The 5-foot-11 and 160-pound Arnett caught 41 passes for 889 yards during his junior season.  Arnett averaged 21.7 yards per catch and scored 10 times.

Arnett, an ESPNU 150 Watch List prospect, has a very impressive list of a dozen scholarship offers.  Offer No. 12 came from USC on Tuesday.

“My basketball coach who is also our athletic director, Lou Dawkins, came and told me he just got off the phone with USC and they offered,” Arnett said.  “The first thing I did was call Coach (Ed) Orgeron.  He said it was true.  That was a school I was waiting on.”

In addition to USC, Arnett has offers from Michigan State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Illinois, Iowa, Tennessee, Oregon, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Purdue and Eastern Michigan.

“I have my top eight now,” Arnett said.  “My top three is USC, Notre Dame and Michigan State.  You can say they are one, two and three in that order.  Numbers four through eight in any order are Michigan, Oregon, Cincinnati, Tennessee and Iowa.”

A couple weeks ago Arnett had said he was waiting for offers from USC, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Miami.  Perhaps the offer from the Buckeyes will come by the end of the month.

“I’m going down to Ohio State on Feb. 27,” Arnett said.  “I’m going to a basketball game (Ohio State-Michigan).”

When asked if the Buckeyes would make it into his top eight if they offered later this month, Arnett said, “You never know.  It could change.  I’ve always liked Ohio State with Troy Smith and Ted Ginn and all those great wide receivers.”

Kurelic’s Comment: Even though Arnett says he is not close to selecting a college, if the Bucks are going to have a realistic shot I think they are going to need to offer when he visits later this month.
