Evan Spencer is very familiar with Ohio State football. His father Tim was a great running back for the Buckeyes and Evan lived in Ohio for ten years. The Buckeyes have offered Evan a scholarship.

On Tuesday Bucknuts.com featured wide receiver DaVaris Daniels (Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills). While Daniels does not have a scholarship offer on the table from Ohio State, the Buckeyes are interested and Daniels said he would visit OSU in the spring.
When Daniels makes that visit he plans to do so with teammate Evan Spencer. Spencer has begun making plans for the trip.
“I’ll definitely visit Ohio State,” Spencer said. “Me and my dad plan to go to a practice the Friday before the spring game, and then go to Ohio State’s spring game the next day. I talked to Doc Tressel about doing that.”
Evan’s father is former Buckeye running back and current Chicago Bears running backs coach Tim Spencer.
The 6-foot-1 and 185-pound Evan Spencer was a varsity starter at wide receiver his sophomore season. He started at both wide receiver and cornerback during his junior season and had 14 touchdowns.
Evan has seven scholarship offers. Ohio State, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, Notre Dame and Purdue are the schools that have already stepped forward.
“I’m looking at all seven,” Evan said. “Track is starting up, and with school I’ve been busy. I’ll get out and look at schools in the summer. Any school that offers me, I’ll be excited about.”
Certainly one of the schools that Evan is excited about is Ohio State.
Evan was born in San Diego when his father was with the Chargers. He lived in Ohio for ten years before moving to Illinois when he was in 6th grade.
“My dad and I talk about Ohio State,” Evan said. “But we are both open minded.”
Evan attended one of the Ohio State summer football camp sessions in June. While on campus he received a tour of the facilities.
“They re-did everything so everything was pretty new to me from when I was there when I lived in Ohio,” Evan said.
He will get another look in April.
Kurelic’s Comment: While Evan would not name a favorite, there is no doubt in my mind he is very interested in Ohio State. I expect him to do his research and visit many schools, but will be a bit surprised if in the end he is not a Buckeye.
