Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville defensive back Latwan Anderson was not in the Horseshoe on Saturday as the Buckeyes clinched at least a tie for the Big Ten title and a trip to the Rose Bowl. Anderson was busy himself leading Glenville to victory over Cleveland St. Ignatius. Afterwards Anderson discussed his big game, Ohio State and when he will visit the Buckeyes, who his leader is and more.
Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville defensive back Latwan Anderson came up huge on Saturday night with four interceptions as the Tarblooders defeated Cleveland St. Ignatius 30-13 in the second round of the state playoffs. The Glenville victory denied St. Ignatius the chance to repeat as state champs.
For Anderson it was certainly a night to remember.
The 5-foot-11 and 185-pound Anderson intercepted four passes and took one back 103-yards for a touchdown over previously undefeated St. Ignatius. The star safety also made five tackles and played a little wide receiver.
“It was exciting,’ Anderson said.
But Anderson said it was only the second best game of his football career.
“In little league, I had a game where I had seven touchdowns,” he said. “But this was my best high school game probably.”
St. Ignatius coach Chuck Kyle has known Anderson for years and at one time Anderson had considered attending St. Ignatius.
“After the game I went and found Coach Kyle,” Anderson said. “We talked a little. He said to make sure we keep it going and bring a state title back to Cleveland.”
If the Tarblooders keep it going they would play in the state championship game Dec. 5, so recruiting is on hold for now for Anderson.
“I’ll wait until after the season,” he said. “Probably nothing is going to happen until after the season.”
Anderson has already made an official visit to MichiganState.
“I was supposed to visit OhioState Dec. 5,” Anderson said. “But I’ll probably go Dec. 12 with Christian Bryant.”
Bryant, another star Glenville defensive back, told Bucknuts.com last week that he will make an official visit to OhioState the weekend of Dec. 12.
When asked who else he is still considering in addition to the Buckeyes, Anderson said, “North Carolina, Tennessee, Cincinnati and West Virginia. West Virginia is still my favorite.”
Kurelic’s Comment: Though Anderson says West Virginia remains his leader, if he takes care of everything in regards to OhioState’s admission department, I think he becomes a Buckeye.
