Bucknuts.com broke the news on Sunday, Dec. 6 that the Buckeyes had offered a scholarship to Columbus (Ohio) Marion Franklin quarterback Verlon Reed. Reed made an official visit to Ohio State this past weekend and committed to the Bucks today.
Columbus (Ohio) Marion Franklin quarterback Verlon Reed made an official visit to OhioState this past weekend. Today he is a Buckeye.
"(OhioState) is everything I expected, it's a home inside a home," Reed said. "It's a dream come true, something I wanted to do my whole life.
"Ohio State has always been a dream for me and now I have the opportunity. It just feels likes the best thing for me and my family."
Reed and his mother Scharr Roseboro were very impressed with their visit to OSU.
“It was great,” Roseboro said. “It really was. I know I had a lot of fun.”
The 6-foot-2 and 185-pound Reed led Marion Franklin to an 11-3 record this season as the Red Devils made it to the Division II state semi-finals. Reed passed for over 1,500 yards and 18 touchdowns and rushed for over 1,250 yards and 19 touchdowns.
In addition to OhioState, Toledo and Bowling Green, Reed also had scholarship offers from Syracuse and KentState. He made official visits to Ohio State and Toledo before selecting the Buckeyes.
Kurelic's Comment: Reed is OSU commitment No. 15 counting Carlos Hyde is this recruiting class. He will go to Ohio State as a quarterback, but if that doesn't work out could move to wide receiver or safety.
