Ohio High countdown continues; Cincinnati Princeton standout Spencer Ware plans to play running back at LSU.

We continue our countdown of Ohio High magazine’s top 50 football prospects for 2010 with today’s look at the No. 9-ranked prospect, Cincinnati Princeton quarterback Spencer Ware.

We will continue this countdown with a look at each of the top 15 prospects over the next two weeks. The list will then be updated for the Fall edition of Ohio High magazine. Click here for information on how to subscribe to Ohio High.

Here is our look at Ware:

Cincinnati Princeton’s Spencer Ware (5-10, 220) has made his name as a quarterback for the Vikings. But it appears he will move to running back at the college level.

On Wednesday, Ware ended the suspense by committing to LSU. He had a ton of top offers, including Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina, N.C. State, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Duke, Illinois and Iowa.

"I like the connections the players have with the coaches and the academic people,” Ware said.  “I like where LSU is located.  I don't like to be cold.  I like their style of offense.  I like the stadium and the school.  I like everything."

In an interview with TigerBait.com, Ware said, "The three running backs they have now -- two of them for sure are going to the draft. One might or might not. Then the two running backs they got in the '09 class weigh about 190 (pounds). Me coming in -- I'll be the biggest back they have," Ware added.”

Ware has been the Vikings starting quarterback since the beginning of his freshman season. He threw for 2,200 yards and rushed for 982 his sophomore season. Ware threw for 1,960 yards and rushed for 770 his junior season. He has a 2.8 GPA.

Ware said he is open to running the ball and not throwing it at the next level: "Running back is interesting. I am pretty cool with that. I like running back."

ScoutingOhio.com’s Mark Porter on Ware: He has the arm strength to play quarterback and the size and speed to be a feature running back.  Runs the ball with great balance and power, shows great patience to set up runs and gives great seconnd effort. Weighed 227 pounds and ran a 4.72 40 at the Cincinnati Nike Combine in March 2009.
