Here is our look at Williams:
East Cleveland Shaw’s Tyrone Williams (6-6, 220) was having a great junior season before going down to injury.
During the fifth game of the season Williams tore the ACL in his right knee and missed the rest of the season. In just over four games Williams had eight touchdown receptions.
Williams had surgery on Oct. 30 and his rehabilitation has gone very well.
“I’m fine now,” Williams said. “I’m 100% healthy. I’m doing everything I always do.”
Williams is a great target. In addition to his size, he runs the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds and has excellent hands. He can go up and get the ball over smaller defensive backs and presents match-up problems.
Williams has scholarship offers from Ohio State, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Kansas, Akron, Buffalo and Eastern Michigan. Other schools showing interest include Illinois and Tennessee.
“The main three I’m looking at are Ohio State, West Virginia and Cincinnati,” Williams said. “Ohio State is still my favorite.”
Williams needs to take care of everything academically. His GPA is above the 2.0 mark and rising. He received all A’s and B’s during his junior year at Shaw. Williams has taken the ACT and continues to work on his score.
“Getting his test score is the key to his future,” Shaw coach Rodney Brown said.
ScoutingOhio.com’s Mark Porter on Williams: His size gives him a huge catching radius and he can pluck balls out of the air with ease. Judges the ball well in the air and can make adjustments on the run. Can dominate the game from his position and will only get better.
