Ohio State received an early commitment from junior defensive end Kenny Hayes of Toledo Whitmer, but it doesn't sound like Canton McKinley junior DE Steve Miller plans on doing the same.

Junior defensive end Steve Miller from Canton McKinley is holding offers from every team inside the Big Ten and many outside of it as well. Right now, he’s doing his research on which college he’d like to play his college football at next year. That included an unofficial visit to Ohio State when the Buckeyes took on Southern Cal in from of an Ohio Stadium record crowd.

“It was great,” said Miller. “It was fine. There were a lot of people and the crowd was going crazy. It was a good visit. Because it was such a huge game, I didn’t really get to talk to anybody.”

Miller (6-4, 225), who also holds offers from nationally recognized schools such as Florida, Notre Dame and LSU, definitely sees room for improvement before he gets to the next level.

“I’m doing good,” Miller said. “I need to work on my hand techniques. I need to use my hands more and better.”

While Miller did grow up as somewhat of a Buckeyes fan, he’s not letting that guide him as to where he will play college ball.

“I don’t have one,” Miller said, when asked about his top five schools. “I’m still trying to figure out where my officials will be right now. Ohio State will be one. I don’t know when yet.”

Listed as one of the top five prospects inside Ohio for the 2011 class, Miller had a monster sophomore season. Totaling up 116 tackles with six sacks, Miller also had eight tackles for loss.

Miller doesn’t anticipate any issues with the NCAA Clearinghouse and is awaiting the results of his ACT.
