Canonsburg (Pa.) Canon-McMillan defensive back Chad Hagan visited Ohio State this afternoon and things could not have gone any better.

“I’m on my way home now,” Hagan told Bucknuts.com.  “I was there for about an hour and a half.  Everything went well.  I committed.”

Hagan had scholarship offers from Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, North Carolina State, Buffalo and a few others before selecting the Buckeyes.

Hagan's decision came down to Ohio State, Wisconsin and Michigan, with the Badgers finishing second.  The Bucks were at the top of Hagan's list pretty much from the first time he realized he was going to land an offer from OSU.

“I’ve been to Ohio State a few times,” Hagan said.  “I love the school.  It’s just awesome.  I like their tradition, and I like how the coaches react with the players.”

Hagan spoke with Buckeye assistants Luke Fickell and Paul Haynes today, and met with Jim Tressel in Tressel’s office.

“That was the first time I’ve been in his office,” Hagan said.  “It’s ridiculous.  Coach Tressel was showing me their Big Ten and National Championship rings.  He said he needed me to help get some more of those.

“I told him I was ready to do that.  He was ecstatic.  He was really excited.”

The 6-foot-1 and 210-pound Hagan played free safety and running back during his junior season.  He made 63 tackles and rushed for close to 800 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Hagan played most of his junior football season and all of the basketball season with a left shin stress fracture.  He had surgery in April and says he is 100% healthy once again.

Hagan will play safety for the Buckeyes.  He is commitment No. 11 for a Buckeye recruiting class that is expected to number at least 17 on National Signing Day.  It is a class that is quickly becoming one of the top recruiting classes in the country.

Kurelic’s Comment: In landing Hagan, the Buckeyes have a big, hard-hitting safety who can run.  Hagan has the potential to be an impact safety for the Bucks.  He could play either strong or free safety for the Buckeyes.
