We had a chance to catch up with Springfield, Ohio, junior linebacker Trey DePriest at Saturday’s Columbus Touchdown Club banquet.

DePriest (6-1, 218) was on hand to receive a Buckeye Blue Chip award from the Touchdown Club.

We were able to tape a video interview with DePriest. He talked about his various scholarship offers, his recent unofficial visit to Alabama, his thoughts on Ohio State, his time at an OSU junior day, the schools he wants to visit officially, when he may decide and much more.

DePriest is considered one of Ohio’s top five juniors in the 2011 class. In fact, he has already committed to play in the 2011 Under Armour All-American Game on ESPN. He already has a host of scholarship offers, including Alabama, Cincinnati, Duke, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Pittsburgh, Stanford, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

DePriest helped lead Springfield to a 6-5 record and a Division I playoff berth. He was a standout at linebacker and running back.

On defense, he had 101 tackles, seven sacks, 10 tackles-for-loss and three fumble recoveries. Offensively, he tallied 812 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns. DePriest has a 3.1 and has scored an 18 on the ACT.
