Ft. Wayne (Ind.) Bishop Luers defensive back Ken Mullen is one of the top juniors in the state of Indiana. He is also one of the top junior cornerback prospects in the Midwest. The Ohio State staff is well aware of Mullen.

On Tuesday cornerback Josh Shaw (Palmdale, Calif./Palmdale) announced he had committed to Florida over scholarship offers from Ohio State, USC, LSU, Notre Dame and many others.

With Shaw off the board the Ohio State staff continues their pursuit of three other senior defensive backs, Christian Bryant and Latwan Anderson (Cleveland, Ohio/Glenville) as well as LaMarcus Joyner (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas).

The OSU staff is also working ahead, and one of the junior defensive backs they have targeted is Ken Mullen (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Bishop Luers).

The 5-foot-11 and 170-pound Mullen is one of the top junior defensive backs in the Midwest.  He has been varsity starter at cornerback since his freshman year.

“A lot of schools are contacting me,” Mullen said.  “Alabama, UCLA, Iowa, Ohio State, Purdue, Louisville, Michigan State a little bit, I’ve had contact from a lot of schools.”

Mullen said he has received more than contact from a handful of schools.

“Purdue, Louisville, Kentucky, Ohio State and Illinois have offered,” Mullen said.  “I have a written offer from Purdue.”

When asked what he is looking for in a college, Mullen said, “Academics, what majors do they have to offer.”

Mullen said at this point he does not have a leader.

Kurelic’s Comment: The Bucks will try to sign at least two outstanding cornerback prospects next recruiting season.  At the top of their list is Doran Grant (Akron, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary), but Mullen is definitely a guy to keep in mind as well.
