Plantation, Fla., safety Jeremy Cash has given the Buckeyes great news, he has committed to Ohio State over scholarship offers from Florida State, Miami, Tennessee and many others.
Plantation, Fla., star Jeremy Cash, one of the country’s top safety prospects, is also one of the Buckeyes’ 2011 commitments. Cash gave Jim Tressel the good news today.
“Yes, I committed to Jim Tressel,” Cash said. “He was real happy. He was really excited. He said now he can look forward to coaching me. He said I'm what he is looking for in a player."
Cash has visited Ohio State on more than one occasion including one of the Buckeyes’ football camp sessions last June as well as the Ohio State-USC game the weekend of Sept. 12.
"Myself, my parents, we like Ohio State," Cash said. "It seems like (Ohio State) has everything I'm looking for in a school."
Last week Cash said he might not make it up to the Buckeyes' spring game next weekend as he had previously planned. However, the visit is on.
"It's funny how things change," Cash said. "I'll be up there."
Also planning to attend the Buckeyes' spring game this weekend are Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard defensive back Wayne Lyons and Miami (Fla.) Pace defensive back Jabari Gorman. The Bucks have offered both.
When asked if he talks with Lyons and Gorman much about Ohio State, Cash said, "We chat here and there about it. As much as I can, I'll do a little nudging while I'm up there."
Cash committed to Ohio State over scholarship offers from Miami, Florida State, North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, Michigan, Nebraska, South Florida and many others. Cash had over 20 scholarship offers.
"Ohio State is different," Cash said. The coaches, the weather, it's just different. And sometimes different can be good."
Ohio State assistant Luke Fickell recruited Cash for the Bucks.
The 6-foot-2 and 185-pound Cash played linebacker during his sophomore season. He played both safety and linebacker during his junior season and made over 100 tackles and intercepted two passes.
Kurelic’s Comment: This is a huge ‘get’ for the Buckeyes. Cash has the potential to be among the very best players Jim Tressel and his staff have landed from the talent rich state of Florida.
