Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville defensive back Christian Bryant is following in the long line of Tarblooder stars to head to OhioState. Bryant, at a press conference, announced moments ago that he has picked the Buckeyes.
With Ohio State and North Carolina hats in front of him, Bryant picked up the OSU hat and announced his decision with his parents looking on.
"My final decision I had to think about not only myself, but my family," Bryant said. "In my heart (Ohio State) is where I wanted to to the next four years. I had a stronger vibe there."
Bryant began his announcement by acknowledging his parents.
"I want to thank my mom and dad for being here the entire recruiting process," he said. "It had its ups and downs, but it was great. My mom and dad both played a big role in this."
Bryant made official visits to Ohio State, North Carolina and MichiganState, before narrowing things down to the Buckeyes and Tar Heels.
Among the many other schools to have offered Bryant a scholarship were Miami, Virginia, Tennessee, West Virginia, Iowa, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Stanford, Illinois and Minnesota.
Bryant was asked if he recently spoke with any former Glenville players who are currently at Ohio State. He said he spoke with Marcus Hall on Monday night and also mentioned Buckeye assistant coach Taver Johnson.
"I talked to Coach Johnson," Bryant said. "He's talking about (playing) corner."
Bryant played cornerback, safety, wide receiver and quarterback during his senior season. He also returned kickoffs and handled Glenville’s punting and kicking duties. He made 80 plus tackles and had four interceptions. Bryant returned two of the pickoffs for touchdowns. He also had five receiving touchdowns and three rushing.
In landing Bryant the Buckeyes have landed the No. 9 overall prospect in the state of Ohio in my publication the Ohio Football Recruiting News.
Bryant is commitment No. 18 for Jim Tressel’s 2010 recruiting class, a class that Tressel hopes totals at least 20 come National Signing Day.
Tressel is still hunting three of the country’s top prospects in offensive linemen Seantrel Henderson from St. Paul (Minn.) Cretin-Derham, offensive lineman Matt James from Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier and Under Armour All-American linebacker and No. 1 prospect in Ohio, Jordan Hicks from West Chester Lakota West.

Kurelic’s Comment: After seeing Glenville defensive back Latwan Anderson select West Virginia earlier this month, it was very important the Buckeyes land Bryant. The Bucks now have a commitment from a safety in Chad Hagan, a cornerback in Bradley Roby, and a guy that will likely play cornerback, but could play either position for the Scarlet and Gray in Bryant.
