Springfield (Pa.) Cardinal O’Hara running back/wide receiver Corey Brown committed to Ohio State on Sunday as he wrapped up his official visit.

Brown (6-0, 171) is rated as the nation’s 149^th-best prospect by ESPN.com/Scouts Inc. He is tabbed to play in the Under Armour All-American Game. He becomes OSU’s 13^th commitment in a class that figures to number between 18 and 20. He is OSU’s fifth verbal in the ESPN top 150.

Brown arrived at OSU early Saturday after playing a game Friday night. He attended the OSU-USC game Saturday night.

“I committed,” Brown said while making his way home. “It was the visit. I’ve never been to Ohio State. It was my first time out there and I loved it.”

When asked what he liked the most, Brown said, “Just everything about the whole visit. The game was great. I had a great time.”

Brown was asked which position he figures to play at the college level.

“I am going to Ohio State as an athlete,” he said.

Brown picked OSU over offers from Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Rutgers and Miami (Fla.)

Brown tore his MCL early in his junior season but he had a big sophomore year. He ran the ball 130 times for 1,019 yards and 9 touchdowns and he added 15 catches for 281 yards and 4 touchdowns.

He is off to a great start to his senior year. In his team’s opener last week (a 35-14 win over Archbishio Wood), Brown had 16 carries for 164 yards and three touchdowns. On Friday, his team moved to 2-0 with a 41-6 rout of Philadelphia Germantown. He did a bit of everything with 22 carries for 109 yards and a touchdown, four catches for 42 yards and a score and an interception.

Ironically, OSU signed another Pennsylvania player named Corey Brown last year as defensive back Corey Brown signed out of Monroeville Gateway.
