Terrelle Pryor talked about Penn State, his injury status and being a leader on Wednesday.
We have video of OSU quarterback Terrelle Pryor's interview session on Wednesday night.
Pryor, a Jeannette, Pa., native, will lead the 15th-ranked Buckeyes against No. 11 Penn State Saturday in University Park, Pa. (3:30 p.m., ABC). The Buckeyes need a win to keep their Rose Bowl hopes alive and likely to also keep the chance of a Big Ten championship season in play.
Pryor talked about the challenge of going against the Nittany Lions.
"We're going home on a mission," Pryor said. "We're going home to Penn State. It's going to be a fight. That's all I can think about. I can't think about going home to see family. I'm thinking about going home to help my team get the W.
"It's going to be a crazy atmosphere. But that's what we come here for, right? That's what you come to Ohio State to play football for. We're looking forward to it."
Pryor only played the first half in OSU's 45-0 rout over New Mexico State last Saturday. He was kept out of the game as a precaution, although both he and coach Jim Tressel admitted he had general soreness.
"I'm a little sore, but like I said, I told a bunch of people, 'You're going to have to kill me not to play,' " Pryor said. "It doesn't matter. I'm going to give it my all. I owe the seniors in there and the team. I owe them 100 percent of my play."
Pryor admitted that he thirsts to lead Ohio State to a signature win.
"Speaking individually, I haven't led us to a big win yet," Pryor said. "The quarterback has to lead and I haven't led in a big game yet. I'm going to go in there and help the other 10 players on the field to try and get a win."
He reflected on his play when he had a pair of late turnovers in last year's 13-6 loss at home to Penn State.
"All I think about is that fumble," Pryor said. "It was just a very stupid play. It was a young player doing it. I would never do that again.
"Of course, we want to beat them. But we have to go in there stress free and relaxed and play our game. We're looking forward to this. We're going to be ready. It's going to be a show. Whoever comes out on top will be whoever doesn't turn over the ball."
When asked where he envisioned himself playing college football as a kid, Pryor said, "I always wanted to play basketball for North Carolina. It was a big detour. This is the game I love. I love basketball, too. I think I am a little bit better at football. I didn't really have a jump shot. Coach always rags on me about that.
"Football is where I am at and I'm enjoying it."
